Lessons are scheduled for one 30 minute session per week; tuition is $80 per month payable in advance. If a student misses a lesson without prior notice, the regular tuition payment is required (make up lesson times are available). If the teacher misses a lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled or the tuition will be refunded for that session.

Now meet the School USA teaching team:

Mikki Carrigan – Cello, Viola, Violin
Immersed in music from early childhood, Mikki is a well-rounded musician and teacher who excels at developing the gifts and talents of students of all ages. She began singing and performing at the age of 4 and began studying piano at age 5. At age 8 she began playing violin and added cello to her line-up a year later. As principal cellist in high school, she toured Europe, participated in District 214 Symphony Orchestra and Interlochen Chamber Orchestra. She is currently enjoying playing in alto clef on the viola as she coaches her daughter on yet another instrument.

Mikki has four children, whom she homeschooled until recently, incorporating music education into their school experience daily. She spent two years as the music teacher at a private school, where she focused on helping students become confident in their ability to perform for others. With 10+ years of private teaching experience, Mikki is a graduate of Juniata College whose degree in psychology and minor in piano performance have helped her to become a teacher who treats every student as an individual whose needs, goals and unique personality dictate the most productive teaching style and learning environment.


 

Scott Cannon - piano, organ, voice, trumpet

Currently, Scott teaches in the Fort Zumwalt School District, and is in charge of the high school guitar class as well as two general music classes. What Scott really gets excited about is assisting with the middle and high school bands at North Middle and North High Schools.

Trumpet was Scott's band instrument all the way through college, but he also played piano. Having picked up choir starting his senior year of high school, he enjoyed singing all through college in the best choirs.

Scott holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Music Education, and enjoys being the organist and pianist at church. If you want to have fun and succeed with piano, organ, voice, or trumpet, set up a time with Scott to start making music!

Kevin Bowers - guitar

Kevin Bowers has been playing guitar, piano, bass, drums, and composing music since he was 5 years old.

He graduated from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California in 2000, where he received an Associate’s Degree. While at MI, Kevin won awards as “All Around Outstanding Drummer” and “Most Ambitious Student”.

He is currently playing with the band The Feed, in St. Louis and throughout the Midwest. Kevin has also composed, recorded, and released two albums of his own music.

Kevin has been teaching at School Music USA since August 2008.

Tony Morales - violin

Tony is currently a student at Webster University. His first year of playing violin, he was concertmaster of the String Training Ensemble. He was principal second violin of the String Orchestra of the Community Music School at Webster University and first violin for the Young People's Symphonic Orchestra. He has also attended the Innsbrook Institute School of Music Summer Program.

Tony has also played in the Saint Louis Youth Orchestra, sitting principal second, first violin, and Assistant Concertmaster. Currently, he is playing for the Webster University Symphony Orchestra sitting First Violin, and is the Concertmaster of the Webster University Chamber Orchestra.

Tony's past teachers include Lucy Kaymakanova, Amy Oshiro, Manuel Ramos, David Gillham, Jon McGrosso, and Leah Poe.

Tommy Hendrickson - guitar

Tommy is a graduate of Seckman High School. Having transferred from Jefferson College he is currently a student at Webster University majoring in music with an emphasis in classical guitar. Tommy has played guitar since he was ten years old. He has participated in the jazz bands of Seckman High School and Jefferson College as well as the Webster University jazz combo and jazz band. Tommy is proficient in classical, jazz and fingestyle guitar. His past teachers include John McClellan, Deyan Bratic and Dave Black.

Nicole Evans - cello

Nicole Evans has been playing the cello since she was 9 years old. A St. Louis native (and graduate of Lindbergh High School), she completed her Bachelor’s of Music Education with an emphasis instrumental music this spring at Webster University.

Throughout middle school and high school, she was a member of several community and select orchestras, including the Community Music School of Webster University’s Young People’s Concert and Symphonic Orchestras, as well as the Missouri All-State Orchestra. At Webster, she was a member of the Webster Symphony Orchestra and the principal cellist of the Webster University Chamber Orchestra.

Her previous teachers include JoEllen Lyons and Ken Kulosa.

Matt McKeever - saxophone, clarinet, bass clarinet

Matt is a graduate of Webster University, where he studied Instrumental Music Education. While at Webster, Matt was both lead alto saxophone in the Webster University Big Band and principal clarinet in the Webster University Chamber Orchestra. In 2010, he was chosen to play lead alto saxophone in the Missouri All-State Collegiate Jazz Band.

Matt has been playing both saxophone and clarinet for over 10 years and is proficient in both the jazz and classical styles. His private teachers include Mike Karpowicz, Paul DeMarinis, and Jeanine Garesche-York. In private lessons, Matt's goal is to create a musical environment where learning is both fun and challenging.

Justin Cook - flute

Justin is currently working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Flute Performance at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is principal flautist in the University Symphonic Wind Ensemble and assistant first flute in the University Philharmonic Orchestra.

Throughout high school and college he has received numerous awards and honors for outstanding achievement in the study of woodwind instrument performance. In 2010 he traveled to China with the MU Symphonic Wind Ensemble, where he performed in venues throughout the country. Later that year, he was selected to perform in a chamber orchestra accompanying Neal Boyd, 2008 winner of America’s Got Talent.

Justin has played flute since age six, when he began lessons with St. Louis Archdiocese Composer-in-Residence Richard Wappel. Lately, he has been studying both classical and extended modern flute techniques under Steven Geibel. Justin believes strongly in reasonable expectations and encouragement in order to build confidence in students.

Megan Maddaleno - violin

Starting at age five, Megan Maddaleno’s violin career began at the Suzuki Strings program at Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville.   The majority of Megan’s musical training was under the guidance of Dr. Allison Woerner with whom she studied under for eleven years.

At age eleven, Megan was placed in the SIUE Suzuki Tour Group, which would be the beginning of her seven consecutive years in the ensemble.   This group allowed for several opportunities, as she toured with the ensemble to France, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, and most recently Spain.  Megan has also recorded three CDs with the SIUE Suzuki Tour Group in the years she spent with them.  While studying at SIUE she was also concertmaster of the Advanced Chamber Ensemble and is also certified in teaching Suzuki Book 1 to students.

Currently, Megan studies under Dr. Suzie Theirbach at Webster University.   She is a freshman Music Education major.  Megan has acted as Assistant Concertmaster and Principal Second of the Webster University Chamber Orchestra, and is a first violinist in the Webster University Symphony Orchestra.
